Immerse hires Paul Jones from AstraZeneca to VP and Technology Strategist for Life Sciences role

London, United Kingdom – 25 January 2024: Immerse, the UK-founded extended reality (XR) training software provider to enterprises, is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Jones as VP and Technology Strategist for Life Sciences. In this role, Paul will be responsible for leading the company’s strategic focus on commercial partnerships across the healthcare and life sciences sectors.

Paul joins Immerse from AstraZeneca, the global research-based biopharmaceutical company, where in his most immediate role as the Head of Emerging Technologies and Global Innovation Labs, he was responsible for founding and establishing the company’s enterprise XR capability. Paul was accountable for defining, designing, and architecting an agnostic ecosystem of scalable platforms to deliver end-to-end use cases from discovery, through make, and into commercial.

He has overseen the delivery of a vast array of use cases, encapsulating highly complex operations-based processes, with enterprise human skills and experiential patient empathy experiences.

Successfully reducing training times by up to 50%, measurably increasing retention of information in critical commercial roles, and bringing scientists together to mitigate geographical barriers and achieve sustainability goals.

Paul is an advisor to the XR Safety Initiative, a global organisation dedicated to providing intelligence and advisory services that are vital for the protection and well-being of emerging technology ecosystems, and a member of the IEEE Spatial Web Working Group, which defines the future of spatial computing. He is a Chartered Fellow of the CMI and holds an MBA in Senior Leadership from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge.

Tom Symonds, Founder and CEO, of Immerse commented: “We are delighted to have Paul join at such an exciting time in the company’s journey, as we seek to reinforce and elevate our position as the leading XR training technology and solutions provider for enterprise.

“Having worked with Paul in his previous role, I know he is one of the leading figures in the accelerating XR enterprise domain. His direct experience in the strategic development of scalable XR platform ecosystems and leading the effective optimisation of access to training content and solutions will be invaluable to Immerse. He is a true innovator in enterprise human skills and experiential learning. We look forward to leveraging Paul’s deep sector experience and commercial expertise to identify and source further enterprise commercial opportunities across the sectors.”

Commenting on his appointment, Paul Jones added: “I’m very excited to be joining Immerse, which is a highly ambitious scale up leading the charge in redefining how companies approach training through the creation and delivery of innovative enterprise XR training solutions that help maximise human performance, create a safer and more productive workforce, and increase operational efficiencies. Since its founding in 2014, Tom and Justin (the co-founders) have built Immerse into the go-to platform for forward-thinking organisations, and I look forward to working with them closely as we seek to take advantage of the commercial partnership opportunities across the healthcare and life sciences sectors.”
