It has been about 10 days since AWE USA, Immerse’s first exhibition at an AWE event. Since then I have had time off to stop and consider the event.
As a company that focuses on Virtual Reality, it felt like we stood out in the Augmented World. A real positive for me was that the level of interest and understanding around VR is more established than AR, even at an AR dominated event.
Companies are still in the very early stages of considering this technology, but a few leaders are now looking to deploy enterprise-wide solutions. I think this phase may continue longer in the AR space, considering the potential multiple layers of data for connected AR experiences in the field. This is likely to pose a challenge for companies small and large for some time yet.
I do enjoy working in the VR space, and watching the AR space grow, they already overlap in some areas and it will be interesting seeing how our product team consider this challenge in the future. For now our focus is remains on VR and our software platform, but as Ferris Bueller once said: ‘Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it‘
