Immerse stakes claim to growth with the appointment of first CMO

Enterprise virtual reality training platform Immerse announces the appointment of James Watson as Chief Marketing Officer. With extensive experience in the digital marketing industry this strategic hire will see James tasked with driving Immerse’s overall marketing strategy across its bespoke VR training solutions business. He will oversee all brand and communication activity including content marketing, public relations, performance marketing and experiential activity.

We see this year as the time to move to a more structured marketing lead growth strategy, so James’s terrific blend of marketing and commercial skills means he’s the perfect person to drive this strategy forward.”

A regular speaker on the immersive technology conference circuit James has appeared internationally at Women of Silicon Roundabout 2018, World VR Forum 2018, New Realities 2018 and Connected World Summit 2018, among others. He has leveraged these platforms to draw attention to the impact VR and AR is having on sales & marketing and across the enterprise space.

James has also served as a member of the British Interactive Media Association’s Immersive technologies Think Tank, made up of 10 of the foremost thinkers in these technologies with the principal aim of inspiring, provoking and educating on the power of these new technologies.

James continues: “My role as CMO will be to help Immerse develop a strong proposition alongside a brand that stands out in this rapidly developing market. Having spent the last few years extolling the virtues of enterprise VR, it’s terrifically exciting to now be directly involved with a market leader in this sector.”

Starting his career in digital marketing James worked for Viator, a travel tech start-up in Sydney, before moving back to London to work for British Airways as part of their Future Capability team. He went on to spend 7 years at OgilvyOne where he led digital marketing programmes across a number of key clients, moving on to his most recent role as Client Services Director at Imagination. It was here that over the past 5 years the agency developed immersive technology solutions for brands including Shell, Major League baseball and Jaguar Land Rover.
